Of course, parents would like to preserver their kids from danger. They warn, explain and forbid - most of the time, that's just fine. However, a study of two child wellfare organizations showed: 

boys and girls, who are protected too much, who can't experience adventure and chanllenges , can become backward children, both mentally and physically. They asked 500 children under 15 years old how they play and what they are playing with. 

Almost 50% of the children was not allowed to play with water, over a third was not allowed to climb trees, 25% was not allowed to use the play ground equipment, go skateboarding or biking. At some schools it was forbidden to play tag, do a handstand of even to run. And some children it was even forbidden to gather daisies - for fear of bacillus!
